Reset’s Living Room is a 3rd space in a former convenient store in Little Jamaica that provides connection, community and ways to practice both. It’s like a gym for your social health. Drop-in passes are available on a sliding scale from $0 - $20 + HST or monthly membership starts at $50 per month.

What’s a Community Living Room ?
Reset's living room is a place to gather social connection and social skills. It's an antidote to our age of loneliness, disconnection and division.Think of it like a gym but for toning emotional wellness, connection and belonging.
The Living Room is the outcome of a two-year research period (2022 & 2023) during which we prototyped new ways to gather and learnt that while there is a need for community spaces, people are also needing to [re]build their social skills.
This resulted in the creation of the Community Living Room, a flexible space to gather for play, rest, and work while offering social connection and social skills programs to help you rebuild connection, regain community and Reset your life.

If bringing your own bike, there are a couple of places you can lock it in front of our Living Room. We are hoping to add our own bike post in future to increase ease.
If utilizing Toronto’s Bike Share we have a station located directly outside our Living Room (see map). -
We are a short walk from the 63 Ossington and 90 Vaughan bus stops (see map).

There is free parking until 12am each day on the side streets around the Living Room including Bansley Ave, Onslow Cresc, Eleanor Ave and Amherst Ave.

In search of solutions for our digital wellbeing, this episode of The Thread with Nam Kiwanuka explores the issue of phone addiction and profiles Reset’s Living Room as a potential solution.
“The first thing you notice upon arriving is an embracing warmth. Not only from the bright colours and charming setup, but also from the folks that will greet you at the door and offer a hug to welcome you. You take off your shoes, grab a pair of complimentary slippers, and help yourself to a cozy seat on the plush red couches, or make a cup of tea in the communal kitchen. You see stacks of boardgames, books and craft supplies residing in nooks and crannies. The room smells of freshly popped popcorn, and you can feel your mouth water. You hear some laughter and tapping keys over the ever changing playlists. The intention of Good Work is coworking that considers your social health so that you hopefully feel energized at the end of your workday. Unlimited Wifi, Popcorn, Coffee and Tea are provided and there’s an art sauna. Good Work includes a Reset (previously called “Recess”) at 3pm, which is an optional 30 minute collective break where we walk, dance or do whatever one wants. Good Work is hosted by our Reset Living Room Team.
Care Practice

The intention of Care Practice is to experience and explore collective healing through a buffet of optional activities such as sauna, solitude and care-full conversations. Care Practice is led by Micha Edwards, Reset’s Community Manager.
Presence Practice

Wednesday 6pm - 8pm | Sunday 11am - 1pm
The intention of Presence Practice is to meditate and explore slowness. You can opt-into collective processing and digital detoxing. Space for solitude, journaling, reading and reflecting is available in the forest and you can opt-into a live Meditation, led by Community Member Kiona Mercer-Tremblay.

The intention of Friendship Practice is to explore the emerging field of social health through curated conversations about friendship and optional activities centered around becoming a better friend.
Our offering for Male-Identifying folks only is to create a more specific and focused container for adult men who are the most affected in the friendship recession. Friendship Practice is led by Adil Dhalla-Kim, Reset’s Co-Founder.

The intention of Play Practice is to relearn how to play and unlearn our resistance to it. It includes options to participate in authentic relating games, improv, board games or you can choose your own play. Play Practice is co-led by Lilian Motta and the Reset Living Room team.
A note about lineage....
The idea of a Community Living Room is not ours and we are proudly building from the love, labour and leadership of many people.
We initially learned about the concept of a Community Living Room from similar projects led by the Centre for Social Innovation Regent Park, the Daniels Corporation and !Kona from Black Chat Vancouver.
It is also important that we acknowledge the broader movement of those exploring "third spaces" designed to address our increasing disconnection.
We’ve drawn inspiration from various bodies of work and wisdom. Those most impactful are by adrienne maree brown, bell hooks, Vivek Murthy, Priya Parker, Robin Wall Kimmerer, Jane Jacobs, Ted Lasso, Robert D. Putnam, Johann Hari, Gabor Maté, Valerie Kaur, Arundhati Roy, Mr. Rogers, Tricia Hersey, Brené Brown, Esther Perel and ALOK.
Additionally, this idea has been significantly influenced and inspired by the Reset Community, the Little Jamaica Community, the City of Toronto's Cultural District Program Plan led by Jay Pitter Placemaking and the Toronto Foundation’s Vital Signs Report.
Finally, we would like to acknowledge our property partners at 42 Communities, the City of Toronto's Cultural Hotspot program and the Government of Canada’s Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario’s Main Street Innovation program for their respective financial contributions to our prototypes that preceded and deeply informed our Living Room.
